Mytilene Airport (LGMT) - landing and take off

Mytilene is a small commercial airport on the island of Lesbos. I have landed there twice – once during my flight expedition The Islands of Aegean sea and once when I filmed and photographed the path taken by the Syrian refugees to Central Europe. During that trip I arrived to Mytilene from Skopje which is outside of Schengen so I was glad Mytilene also provides immigration check.

The airport offers Avgas and car rental. Handling is mandatory but similar to other Greek airports, if you are an AOPA member, the price is only about 25 EUR. The controller at the airport tower was very friendly. When I filed my flight plan with him he helped me plan my photo flight within his CTR and over some parts of the island. Lesbos is located close to the Turkish border and not far from other beautiful Greek islands.
