New Zealand 2018 VII.      Today´s flight video from New Zealand 2018 Expedition will take you to the most beautiful fjord of the world, Milford Sound.

Flying New Zealand 2018, Part 7

We refuelled at Haast and continued further to the South. First the wild West coast, shallow rivers fed from the glaciers and then suddenly a gap in the rocks – that is where Milford Sound begins. Allegedly the most beautiful fjord in the world.

I don´t know how to decide whether it indeed is the most beautiful but it definitely is beautiful. Our flight to its inland end took some 10 minutes as the fjord is about 15 miles long. We made a 360 turn over Milford Sound airport, took many pictures and continued to Quill lake. Then another two hours over the beautiful part South Island, called Fiordland.

Then we landed at the airport of Alexandra. As the flight took some four hours, the outside cameras lost their power so there is no video showing the last part of the flight.

The weather however, was no good. The alternative was to fly north-east alongside the coast and over less mountainous area. The eastern part of the South Island was sunny as was the aerodrome of Omaka.

Next video from the New Zealand video series video we will publish on Friday, May 25, 2018.
