New Zealand 2018 II. In the newest videoseries we are bringing to you flight videos taken during our New Zealand 2018 Expedition. Part two: Takaka airport landing and beautuful coast of Tasman Bay.
Flying New Zealand 2018, Part 2
The second video from our expedition over New Zealand shows departure from Motueka aerodrome and then alongside the coast of Tasman Bay to Awaroa Bay airstrip. We had to make two low passes over the airstrip before I managed to position the aircraft correctly for the landing on that short airstrip. The landing itself will be shown in a separate video „Extreme airports“ which will be released and a couple of weeks.
This video then shows our flight alongside the coast to Takaka aerodrome. Our landing there was somewhat complicated by the hills not far from the runway treshold. So you can see that the touchdown took place quite late.
For Europeans New Zealand is, of course, somewhat far away. Therefore we want to bring this beautiful country to you at least on the videos and photos taken during our flight expedition named „New Zealand 2018“. Jiri Prusa flew this expedition in the first part of February which means in the full New Zealand summer. Despite that the weather was far from ideal. Only about half of the time it was VFR flyable.

The weather however, was no good. The alternative was to fly north-east alongside the coast and over less mountainous area. The eastern part of the South Island was sunny as was the aerodrome of Omaka.
The third video from the New Zealand video series video will show the second part of this flight along the north-western coast of South Island. It will be publish on Friday, April 20, 2018.
