Basic information:

Entry:  Malta is a part of the Schengen area. Flights within Schengen can land at any airport without the need to clear customs/immigration controls. Arrivals/Departures to/from any other countries need to proceed via international airports and clear the customs/immigration.
FPL: A flight plan is required for all flights within Maltese airspace. An FPL must be filed at least 60 minutes prior to the flight.
Microlights: Malta does not require any permission for entry of foreign-registered microlights. There is only one airport in Malta – Luqa. Luqa is used also by microlight aircraft. We are trying to verify whether microlight pilots do not need a PPL, as is suggested in some draft regulations available to us.
