Alps from above 2: From Innsbruck to do Bernese Alps

18.1.2019

Alps from above 2      The new video series Flying Revue Alps from above continues from Innsbruck Airport to Sion in Switzerland.

Alps 2015, Day 2

The airport of Innsbruck has a part dedicated to the general aviation – aircraft stand, briefing office, security, payment office etc. So landing here is quite pleasant.

What was less pleasant when we were there was the fog which covered the airport until about half past one o´clock. Therefore, we had to patiently wait until the controller advised that the airport is open also for VFR traffic.

First, we flew over Brenner Pass – the border between Austria and Italy. From there we continued west and entered the Swiss airspace over the city of Chur. Then we continued over Rhine valley, Bernese Alps to the airport of Sion which is not far from Geneva lake.

The cameras mounted under the wings only last some 2 hours 15 minutes, the flight took about 3 hours so our video does not show the landing at Sion. I trust, however, that the breath-taking views of the Alps will compensate you for that.
