Flying Alaska 2017, Part 7 - Juneau, Whitehorse, Dawson City, Mayo, Dease Lake
The weather at Juneau was sunny again in the morning. I had to file a flight plan for Canada and sort out all the formalities connected to entering Canada via Whitehorse International Airport. To avoid flying the same route over Lynn Canal I chose a somewhat easterly route over the glaciers. The closest one being the mighty Mendenhall. That part of flight was absolutely stunning – one glacier after another and blue sea next to them.
After about 90 minutes of flight I enetered Canada at Whitehorse, called the Immigration people to get legal and then I continued to the sin gold rush city of Dawson. There, for the first time, I saw a B737 taking off from a gravel runway. The night at Dawson was uneventful but the next day I managed to fly over all the gold mines of Klondike river and Bonanza Creek. Then via Mayo airfield back to Whitehorse and then to the South over the Rockies down to Dease Lake.
